This was amazing! Just weeks ago, I wasn't confident in my ability to write good kingdom music; I was scared to share anything I created even to my wife, let alone the world.

…I was terrified to flesh out an idea. Didn’t really know where to begin. And now, I’m eager to work on a song - I feel stronger, more confident in confronting and overcoming fears, and equipped to write more. Ideas have been bubbling up like a geyser. Even as a worship leader, I already have more confidence to sing spontaneously. Now as I reflect I’m almost bewildered that I’ve felt held back for so long.
I really fell in love with the process of songwriting. As much of a mystery as it is, you made the craft accessible (without watering it down at all) for folks like me who’ve listened to their fears for too long. Studying the course content around melodies and song structure was like drinking from a fire hydrant!
This intensive taught me that it’s not about a “formula” - if you want to make Kingdom songs that are honest and of value, you have to cultivate the vision God gave you, and I’m so grateful to now have the tools to do so.

Before I joined Cultivated, I struggled finding words to complete my songs. I had so many half-written songs and cringed at the thought of going back to complete them. I also didn't know how to play an instrument! I had become resentful of all music for that reason, and almost gave up on my calling as a Christian artist. I felt it was too late for me and that I had missed my chance.
But then…
I quickly learned how to pick myself back up after feeling defeated, and how to prevent them in the first place. Kyle was full of grace and empathy. He always had just the right words to help me gain perspective and improve. Within just two weeks I learned a super easy way to play the guitar and start singing along! Less than two weeks later I was adding chords to my songs and creating new songs in different keys!

This whole journey was simultaneously encouraging, inspiring, and crazy making! At times, I had to rely upon Kyle’s trust in me because I didn't have any. And I was sure that what he thought I could do was a sign that he was crazy, haha! But every week, I somehow made it. Let me be honest.
I was pretty uncertain coming in how this was going to be any different from other songwriting programs I had taken part in, and really wasn’t sure if it was worth the price and effort.
I must say this changed me on a personal level more than any other mentorship or program in my life! I found some of that childlike curiosity I lost along the way. There’s a new freedom to pursue the creative wonder of a limitless God!
The biggest lightbulb moment was discovering a whole new emotional connection that deepened my ability to write about the things most important to me. Kyle has a method that is deep calling to deep. It wasn’t always easy to change but it was necessary if I wanted to grow and mature. I learned to embrace the mess and Kyle is an expert at bringing that into focus.
Well, I have absolutely no regrets about investing in myself! The value of transformation I got - the seeds planted and the lessons learned - were 100% worth the time, treasure and effort of this course.
